Tawana Philpott Brown

Tawana is the Health Services Center program director. She oversees all program operations, including budgeting, fundraising, visibility, growth and development, contractor work, and all staff activities. She received her Doctorate in Health Administration from MUSC, a Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina, a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Anderson University. Tawana is from Harlem NY by way of Eutawville, SC, and has lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Fayetteville, NC, and Anderson SC. After interning at a Ryan White Provider at AID Upstate, Tawana knew she would pursue a career focused on helping those populations at-risk and living with HIV/AIDS. She has worked for the Health Services Center since 2020, first as a case manager before being promoted to Center Director. Tawana strives to see an AIDS-free generation in her lifetime and believes we are well on the way. She believes in fair and equitable healthcare for all people and is passionate about improving access in our rural communities.
